Who We Are What We Do Get Involved

Mennonite Voluntary Service

MVS, part of Mennonite Mission Network, is a nation-wide program that matches voluntary service workers with community organizations. These participants bring a commitment to walk with the disadvantaged and those who suffer injustice. They are active in issues of the local neighborhood and local faith community where they are assigned. They live simply and learn from new settings where perceptions and outlooks may vary from their own.

Mennonite Voluntary Service Workers (MVSers) volunteer to work full time for social service organizations in the community. In return, they are not paid but live together in a shared household (the MVS Unit) and receive basic necessities including room and board. Patchwork has hosted a MVS Unit since 1988, and over the past 22 years MVSers have served in several community organizations including Patchwork’s children’s program, the River City Food Co-op, the Neighborhood Economic Development Center, the Washington Avenue Clinic, and even Habitat for Humanity of Evansville.
