Who We Are What We Do Get Involved

Artist Profile: Lisa Dayvolt

I am a Glass Artist and Ceramic Instructor. Twelve years ago I apprenticed under Jeremy South a Ceramicist who now resides in Indianapolis. I worked with Jeremy for one year, first studying and then assisting him with creating his ceramics. I also learned to assist him in his teaching classes. Shortly after, Jeremy moved  and I took over teaching his private clay lessons.
I have taught clay for adults, day care centers, and groups of children for five years. I am trained as a Teaching Artist with The Very Special Arts of Indiana so I am able to work  with children who have disabilities.

After volunteering for many years, I now work at Patchwork Central as a programming assistant with the children's programs. I also work with the Very Special Arts Of Indiana during the school year. Working with Children is a joy in my life. I sustained a neck injury that I was able to work through with the care of a chiropractor. He kept me working throughout but the healing was slow and working with the children was all I could give physically to the Ceramics. I only recently revisited the potter's wheel and am happy to say that I have been able to throw on the wheel again.

During the time while I was healing I began to explore the art of fusing glass. One day in boredom I tried my hand at melting some glass in my kiln. Although that piece was incredibly ugly I began my journey learning how to manipulate the glass in the kiln. I have now been making Fused Art Glass Jewelry for four years.

My most recent work includes larger fused glass using glass bending techniques. Threre are functional and non-functional vessels and pieces made in brilliant colors and unique forms.
